Creative Music Journal

Write for us

Creative Music Journal welcomes considered pitches about songcraft, arrangement, recording, instruments and attentive listening. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the idea and its value to readers.

What we welcome

We are interested in clear, original explanations of musical choices, comparisons that help readers hear a difference, and thoughtful accounts of how a creative process works. A useful pitch has a defined subject, a reader in mind and a point that can be explored without relying on unsupported claims.

What makes a good pitch

Explain the central idea, why it suits Creative Music Journal, and what a reader will understand after reading. Mention your relevant experience only as it relates to the proposal. Avoid broad offers to write about music in general, promotional copy, and pieces whose main value depends on access we cannot verify.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial option. Include a working title, a short outline and any relevant links or context in your message. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please do not send a complete unpublished work unless requested.

Our point of view

Music is made of choices

A closer listen can reveal how a musical idea becomes a performance. We explain the craft without assuming specialist knowledge.
